flydubai Launches Nairobi Flights: "Very Soon, Daily Service to Nairobi"

Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa and South Asia) Sudhir Sreedharan spoke at flydubai's Nairobi route launch luncheon on October 16, 2025, at Pan Pacific Hotel, Nairobi.

flydubai's inaugural flight touched down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and was welcomed with a water cannon salute and by senior officials representing the Kenya Tourism Board, the Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) and the Kenya Airports Authority. The luncheon was organized to announce the launch of the four-times-weekly service to Nairobi and celebrate the expansion of Kenya operations following the success of the Mombasa route.

15 Years of Growth

In just 15 years, flydubai has grown from a young and ambitious airline to the second largest carrier operating out of Dubai International Airport.

"We have built a network of more than 135 destinations in 57 countries, connecting markets that were previously underserved and opening new opportunities for trade and tourism across countries"

Africa: A Key Region

Africa has become one of flydubai's key programming regions. With the start of flights to Nairobi, the carrier now serves 12 destinations in Africa across eight countries including Alexandria, Addis Ababa, Al Alamein, Asmara, Cairo, Dar es Salaam, Djibouti, Entebbe, Hargeisa, Mombasa and Zanzibar.

"Today we serve more than 12 destinations across Africa, underscoring the importance of this vibrant and fast-growing market to our network and to our long-term strategy"

Emirates Partnership

The partnership with Emirates continues to grow.

"For our customers here in Nairobi, this means seamless connectivity to more than 200 destinations across six continents on the combined FlyDubai and Emirates network. It allows passengers to enjoy a unified booking experience through check-in and easy transfers in Dubai, giving travelers from Kenya unparalleled access to the world"

Mombasa Success Story

Since launching flights to Mombasa in January of the previous year, flydubai has seen tremendous demand for travel between Kenya and Dubai. From October 1, flydubai increased its flights to Mombasa to a daily service, bringing the airline's total operations to Kenya to 11 flights a week.

"In less than a year, we increased our service from four flights per week to daily operations thanks to a strong response from customers and the invaluable support of our travel partners"

Nairobi Route Optimism

With the launch of new flights to Nairobi, Sreedharan expressed confidence in seeing similar success.

"I am optimistic that this route will grow and that very soon Nairobi will enjoy a daily flight between Dubai and FlyDubai"

Sreedharan stated: "The launch of our four-times-weekly service to Nairobi reflects our unwavering commitment to enhancing connectivity for our customers from the UAE, Kenya and beyond. Kenya remains an important destination for flydubai and with 11 weekly flights, we are excited to welcome more passengers on board to experience a convenient and comfortable travel journey with flydubai".

Service Commitment

flydubai's commitment centers on providing passengers with a reliable, convenient, and high-quality travel experience.

"Whether in business class where travelers enjoy lie-flat seats and personalized attention, or in economy where passengers can relax in comfort with quality meals and in-flight entertainment, we aim to deliver excellence and genuine hospitality on every journey"

Enhanced Economy Class

Starting November 1st, flydubai announced a significant enhancement to economy class service.

"I'm pleased to share that from 1st November, meals and in-flight entertainment will be included in all economy class fares, bringing more value and an elevated on-board experience to all our passengers on every flight"

Flight Details

Flights will operate from Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB) to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Return Business Class fares from DXB to NBO start from AED 4,500 and Economy Class Lite fares start from AED 1,450, while return Business Class fares from NBO to DXB start from USD 2,000 and Economy Class Lite fares start from USD 440.

Building Partnerships

Sreedharan emphasized that flydubai's mission extends beyond operating flights.

"We're not here just to operate flights, but to build long-term relationships. We look forward to working closely with all of you, our travel agents, tour operators and industry partners, to grow this route, strengthen our cooperation, and make it a lasting success story for both Kenya and UAE"

The luncheon concluded with appreciation for partners and an invitation to experience the new service.
