ISIOLO LEADERS DENOUNCE EMERGING POLITICS OF INCITEMENT, HATRED AND HOSTILITY

Isiolo Leaders Condemn Politics of Incitement and Division Following Failed Impeachment

In the wake of the recent failed impeachment motion against Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo, a united group of Isiolo leaders held a press briefing in Nairobi to condemn what they described as an orchestrated campaign of political incitement, ethnic division, and external interference.

The briefing, attended by MPs, community leaders, and professionals, aimed to set the record straight following what they termed a “malicious, forged and politically motivated” attempt to oust Governor Guyo.

The Senate recently threw out the impeachment charges citing lack of merit, procedural irregularities, and misuse of the constitutional process. The Governor responded by initiating reconciliation with political opponents, but leaders at the briefing said some actors have instead chosen further incitement and sabotage.

“There is a dangerous narrative being pushed in Isiolo by individuals who lost politically and are now weaponizing hate and division,” said Hon. Mumina Bonaya, Isiolo County MP, who delivered the most scathing address at the event.

Key Concerns Raised

The leaders highlighted several alarming developments since the failed impeachment:

  • Hijacking of MCAs: Some Members of the County Assembly were allegedly taken outside the county for weeks, disrupting service delivery and isolating them from public accountability.

  • Targeting of Government Officials: Civil servants perceived to be loyal to the Governor have reportedly faced threats, character assassination, and attempts at illegal transfers.

  • Inflammatory Speech by Isiolo Senator: Leaders condemned the Senator’s remarks in the Senate, accusing him of stoking violence and spreading unverified allegations.

  • Interference by External Politicians: Particular attention was drawn to Marsabit Governor Mohamed Ali, who was accused of sponsoring the impeachment.

“Let me speak plainly,” said Hon. Bonaya. “Governor Mohamed Ali of Marsabit played a central role in facilitating and funding this illegitimate impeachment. His interference must stop.”

She further accused the United Democratic Movement (UDM) of pushing political intrusion into Isiolo affairs:

“We do not want to be in UDM. We are in UDA and part of the Kenya Kwanza government. This was never about development it was about power and control.”

List of Named Individuals

Hon. Bonaya named several figures accused of working behind the scenes to destabilize Isiolo. They include:

  • Governor Mohamed Ali (Marsabit)

  • Senator Ali Roba (Mandera)

  • Mohammed Liban – PS, Petroleum

  • Rehema Jaldesa – Former Woman Rep

  • Nuur Mohammed Ibrahim – CEO, Sports Fund

“These officers were appointed to serve the nation—not to act as political brokers. They must be called to order,” she said.

Resolutions and Way Forward

The press briefing concluded with several resolutions:

  1. Support for President Ruto and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

  2. Condemnation of incitement, political manipulation, and ethnic division.

  3. Call for investigations into those intimidating public officials and spreading hate.

  4. Protection of public servants and institutions.

  5. Demand for cessation of external meddling in Isiolo affairs.

  6. Commitment to peaceful coexistence, inter-clan unity, and lawful conduct moving forward.

“Isiolo is a home for all 42 tribes of Kenya. We will not be divided. If anyone wants to bring impeachment again, let them do it legally not through chaos and manipulation,” said Hon. Bonaya.

Final Word

The leaders urged calm across Isiolo and reaffirmed their commitment to peace, reconciliation, and service delivery.

“Isiolo will not burn for anyone’s personal ambition. We are watching, and we are prepared to defend our county from political chaos,” Hon. Bonaya concluded.
